Acheiving Overall Fitness with Crossfit
If someone ventures to a gym tonight to start the goal of losing weight and getting in shape, they will be presented with the idea of crossfit. A revolutionary idea in conditioning, crossfit mixes a lot of different venues of fitness with its goal in providing full body changes and an overall fitness level far surpassing normal exercise routines. While some routines focus on certain areas of the body on different days, crossfit training is a total body experience that works all areas of the body in each of their sessions.
Crossfit was founded by Greg Glassman and Laura Jenai in the early part of 2000 as a new way to focus on physical training and exercise. They were focused on combining the best exercises from multiple aspects of physical training into one intense session that focused on all core parts of the body. Greg and Laura decided to incorporate varying lessons, from gymnastic routines to power lifting, in order to provide their students with an idea that looking outside of the box was more important that just focusing on a daily routine that would take months to years to provide change.
A normal crossfit workout consists of four main spectrums of exercise and core training events. The first workout is a basic warm up session that entails basic calisthenics along with strong bursts of cardiovascular routines aimed at getting the heart rate up and the body loosened up. The second routine will focus on a new core routine that will “shock” your system and be incorporated in your daily regiment going forward. The intensity and grueling work happens within the third routine where you go hard and fast for a length of time focusing on many different exercises aimed at hitting all core muscles in your body in a limited amount of time. The cool down stage follows this with a various set of yoga and random stretching exercises targeting the loosening and repairing of all muscles that were used throughout the session.
Nobody will come and say that the crossfit routine is a normal workout that can be done by anybody at anytime. It requires a focus that each workout will be intense and make everything hurt the next day beyond belief. With this focus and determination, crossfit will allow you to work muscles that you never even knew you had with an overall goal of making your health and well being better in the long run.
